i love how colsen is still talking when he's supposed to be excited about riding a bike without training wheels. "are you texting my mom?" hahaha. and i love his grunty little laugh when the chain falls off and he says, "not again!"
i love this kid. i love watching kids learn how to do stuff for the first time. and i really love watching dads that are proud. this video makes me so excited to get married and eventually have a little boy who is learning to ride a bike with his dad. i can't wait to tell my kids that i am proud of them.
every time (and unfortunately this is a lot) i say i hate school, my mom says, "why are you going to be a teacher for the rest of your life then?!"
and i've never been able to answer it really... because the truth is, i think a lot of kids are not very cute and a lot of kids are bratty. i know there will always be some kids that are not as easy to like as others... but there's something really exciting about being able to watch a little mind discover something new. or watch a little heart change before your eyes.
it's not that i look forward to waking up really early every morning to go through math facts with third graders - it's that i believe there is so much more to being a teacher than "teaching."
i pray for my students already. i love them already. and i can't wait to throw my arms around them and tell them how excited i am to hang out with them for the year.
