reminds me of cigars

i work with this little elderly cuban man named rojelio. now, rojelio's probably in his mid-to-late sixties. he's one of the sweetest men i've ever met. he's always willing to do anything for you, and he is always bowing and smiling.

i always ask how he is, and he always replies in his awesome cuban accent, "good, good. i guess i could be better." and i always say, "how?" and he says, "i don't know. it just seems like... i could be better." and i always tell him that if he thinks of a way that i could help make it better, to let me know.

one time when i said that to him, he said, "you know the only way to be really good?" and i said, "yes i do. do you?" and he said, "belief in God."

and i wonder if through his broken english, he really wanted to express that the only way to be good was a relationship with God, a love for God.

because well, anyone can believe in God, but to know the love of God is fantastic. to feel the love of God is even greater.

feeling the love of God is the most amazing gift

fear not, for i have redeemed you by name; you are mine.... since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because i love you, i will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life (isaiah 43:1&4)

how cool is that?
