the urge.

i just read this part of a letter written to the church of the thessalonians that i thought was pretty nifty.

"now about brotherly love we do not need to write you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. and in fact, you do love all the brothers throughout macedonia. yet we urge you, brothers, to do so more and more."

it's like - these letter writers (paul, silas, and timothy), are totally confident in the fact that the people of the church are loving just as they ought. so rather than a command to love, it is an encouragement to continue to love.

i wish i didn't have to be reminded to love, but rather it came as a first nature.

i have been taught by God how to love someone, but very seldom do i love like he loved.

unfortunately, it is an unusual circumstance for me to choose to love someone before i've been introduced to them.

most unsettling.

"yet we urge you, brothers, to do so [love] more and more."

alright.
