you are my

first peter 1:18-19 for you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you by your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

and how do we figure that it's ok to measure someone's worth by the amount of money in their pockets?

we were redeemed by the precious blood of a holy and spotless Christ.
and he has never once measured us upon our wealth or possessions.

he delights in us.

so, there's this david crowder song called, "you are my joy."

and although all of the name trivialities and associations can get old, it is at that [the minutes i'm listening to that song, or singing it myself] very moment i'm so grateful for having my name.

because, i'm singing "you are my joy, you are my joy, you are my joy, you are my jooooooooyyyyyyy" to Jesus - and he's singing it back to me.

and i am his joy, in every sense of the word. i am his daughter - and i am his joy... he delights in me, and in the very idea of me.

and i was thinking, "man. everyone's name should be joy! this song is off the heezy."

but - even though everyone's name doesn't mean the same thing as mine, i still think it'd be cool to think of Jesus as singing to you ... "you are my lydia, you are my lydia, you are my lydia, you are my lyyyydddiiiiiaaa". it would work better if your name was one syllable. "you are my jud, you are my jud, you are my jud, you are my juuuuuud." or luke - i guess it could work for him. my whole family actually...

i'm getting off track.

no matter the syllable count - i think it's neat.
