so last night i'm getting on the escalator at barnes and noble, and my shakespeare pin falls off my bag and i hear it clank after i'm already on the transportation device, and i look behind me and see the pin sitting there. i turned around and it seemed like it would be so easy to just grab it, but i couldn't fight the rhythm of the moving steps. so i had to do things the hard way. go all the way down the escalator i was on, go up the opposing, pick up my dang pin, and come back down.
and i guess that i'm constantly tempted with taking short cuts, even at the most inconducive times... like on the escalator.
my mom has always said that in order to get the proper measuring of flour, you must put spoon fulls of flour into the measuring cup, tap the top with a knife, and then scrape the top of it off.
and i've always wondered what that whole process did in the end. can anyone really tell the difference in the outcome of a cookie, if the flour was simply scooped up by the measuring cup?
i think spiritual shortcuts are the cheapest way of attempting to honor God.
a quick flip through of a chapter in the Bible, a "hey God" before going to sleep... all to say that we've "kept up" with the Father?
how pathetic. i'm pretty sure Jesus hasn't taken any simple shortcuts when it's come to the hearts of His children.
i'm also pretty sure that a shortcut made for Jesus isn't going to do a lot of good when we're seeking the permanence of eternity.
