"the christian faith is mysterious to the core. it is about things and beings that ultimately can't be put into words. language fails. and if we do definitively put God into words, we have at that very moment made God something God is not." - rob bell - velvet elvis.
"i'm just having a hard time of it." that's what someone told me tonight. and i asked, "having a hard time of what?" and they said, "this whole God thing." then i asked "how so?" and they said, "ya know. just trying to figure out if he even exists. i read my Bible every night, but how do i know that some random people didn't just write that thousands of years ago, and we believe it to be more than it actually is?" and i said, "i guess that's why it's called "faith", huh? we're trying to wrap our minds around something we cannot touch or see."
and they were right. how do we know?
faith: belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
i suppose we know because of faith. i have faith that there is a God that created me. i have faith that there is a God who has a perfect and timely plan for my life.
"unbelief was the sin, and i indulged in it." - hudson taylor - spiritual secrets.
so, it's a sin if we don't believe?
romans 3:3: what if some did not have faith? will their lack of faith nullify God's faithfulness?
i'd hate to think my unbelief would be the downfall of God's. that would suck.
maybe it is too difficult to try and wrap our minds around.how cool God is.
how great must the love of Jesus be, that we cannot comprehend it?
